U.S. airlines carried 70.7 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in January 2025, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). When adjusted for seasonality, January enplanements are down 2.3% from December and down 2.3% from the all-time high reached in December 2024.
BTS reported 60.4 million domestic passengers and 10.4 million international passengers on U.S. airlines flights in January, not adjusting for seasonality.

Trends (not seasonally adjusted) in U.S. airlines passenger enplanements

- Systemwide enplanements (70.7M) were down 0.1% from the all-time January high (70.8) reached in 2020.
- Domestic enplanements (60.4M) were down 2.0% from the all-time January high (61.6) reached in 2020.
- International enplanements (10.4M) reached a new all-time high for the month of January.

January seasonally adjusted
- Systemwide enplanements (81.3M) were down 2.3% from the all-time high of 83.1 million reached in December 2024.
- Domestic enplanements (70.1M) were down 3.0% from the all-time high of 72.3 million reached in June 2024.
- International enplanements (11.2M) were down 0.7% from the all-time high of 11.3 million reached in December 2024.
