November 2023 U.S. Airline Traffic Data Up 8.1% from the Same Month in 2022

U.S. airlines carried 77.7 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in November 2023, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). When adjusted for seasonality, November enplanements are up 1.3% from October and reached a new all-time high reached in November 2023.

BTS reported 68.4 million domestic passengers and 9.3 million international passengers on U.S. airlines flights in November, not adjusting for seasonality.

Two measures of U.S. airlines passenger enplanements

November seasonally adjusted

  • Systemwide enplanements (82.1M) reached a new all-time, seasonally-adjusted, high based on data through November 2023.
  • Domestic enplanements (71.4M) reached a new all-time, seasonally-adjusted, high based on data through November 2023.
  • International enplanements (10.7M) were down 1.2% from the all-time high of 10.84 million reached in October 2023. 

November unadjusted 

  • Systemwide enplanements (77.7M) reached a new all-time high for the month of November.
  • Domestic enplanements (68.4M) reached a new all-time high for the month of November.
  • International enplanements (9.29M) reached a new all-time high for the month of November.
